I love John Carpenter, he made great films and music, but this was his last great film, after this he turned shit, dunno why. I still think The Thing is the best (proves why you don't need CGI), but this film has got the best fight scene ever.Here's my top 10 John Carpenter films in order.

Back in the 80's when I was a little kid, I often visited my Mum's friend's house and stayed overnight in her bodybuilder son's bedroom, he was probably the coolest person Ive ever met, he only ever watched action and horror films, I remember watching Predator, Ghoulies and Over The Top with him, and he also ate whole chickens for breakfast everyday, but the coolest thing I remembered about him were the 4 posters he had on his wall, Beverley Hills Cop, Robert Crumb's Stoned Agin, a Ferrari and Death Warmed Up. The Death Warmed Up poster used to give me nightmares, maybe that's why I still havent seen it, but I want to, so if anyone has it and wants to lend it to me that would be great.
SLASH ZINES
Ive been trying to buy these suckas for a while on eBay, but they always go for stoopid money, in the mean time Ive just found this GREAT SITE which seems to be compiling all of the zines (so far they have the first 3), the only annoying thing is the text is too small to read, but I shouldn't complain really. Slash started off as the zines above in 1977 (Year Zero) folding 3 years later but they went on to create SLASH RECORDS, the leading LA punk record label of the late 70's/early 80's releasing records for some of my favourite bands including, X, The Germs, Violent Femmes, Fear, The Blasters and The Misfits.

Oh baby, Im so happy! The latest Tonite tees are coming out soon and they look great, their are homages to Suicidal Tendencies, Robert Crumb and Cheap Trick from what I can see, it's my birthday in 3 months so why not all buy me this stuff as a nice early birthday present, except for the cap as I have a large head and hats don't suit me. Out of print and almost impossible to find for decades, Manson has been uploaded to Archives.com. This documentary is terrifying because every second of it is real. It shows Manson family members skinny-dipping, fornicating, brandishing guns, dropping acid and talking crazy just before the Tate/Labianca murders. The film was arrived at almost by accident. Some young filmmakers were doing a documentary on hippie communes and visited the Manson family. While they were editing their footage they turned on the TV news and were surprised to see Charlie’s smiling face. They quickly grabbed their cameras and rushed down to the Manson trial.YOUNG MARBLE GIANTS TURNED INTO WEEKEND???
I love Young Marble Giants, Colossal Youth is one of my favourite albums. How come Ive only just discovered the band Weekend, supposedly they were the immediate off-shoot of Young Marble Giants, why did no one tell me this. Here is footage of David Bowie talking and preforming Golden Years and Fame on Soul Train, it was actually the first time a white man had performed on Soul Train which I think is pretty cool and was during his Thin White Duke period. I always get annoyed when people pronounce Bowie wrong, its bow-ie as in, a bow and arrow, not bow-ie as in, take a bow, just thought I'd clear that up.

KRAUTROCKSAMPLER PDF
I know it ain't the same as having the book, but unless you're willing to spend big bucks or you can read German their ain't no other way of reading this little beauty. If you don't know, Krautrocksampler is a book by super nut and ex The Teardrop Explodes singer Julian Cope. Released in 1995, Krautrocksampler describes the undeground music scene in Germany, known as Krautrock or Kosmische Music from 1968 through to the 1970's, and also contains individual chapters on the main bands and artists of the scene such as Neu!, Amon Düül I and II, Ash Ra Tempel, Faust, Tangerine Dream and The Cosmic Jokers. Julian Cope also writes a list called '50 Kosmische Classics' which you can also see HERE. Anyway, for the good stuff go HERE

I think when I first found out their was a film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starring Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid) and C. Thomas Howell (The Hitcher) I wet my pants. But it's true and its a pretty good film and you can watch it on YouTube (if you dont mind watching it in 11 parts).

Another great film for you to watch HERE, it's on Veoh so youve got to download it. What isnt their to love about a road movie with Dennis Wilson, James Taylor and Harry Dean Stanton, its also one of Bruce Springteen's favourite movies which means its gotta be incredible.
I'VE SEEN THINGS...
I watched Blade Runner (Final Cut) for probably the hundredth time a few weeks ago, but for the first time in a cinema and it blew my mind, you've got to watch it in a cinema to really appreciate its full awesomeness, I think it might be my favourite film now, watching this makes me wanna listen to Vangelis' Love Theme all night long, but with a real saxaphone player playing while sitting on my window ledge, while the wind blows the satin curtains.
GUNS + BOOBIES = ANDY SIDARIS
If you like your action films with big guns and bigger boobies then you gotta watch an ANDY SIDARIS film, theyre incredible. Andy Sidaris sadly passed away last year but his films are still here and rockin', my favourite film of his is Hard Ticket To Hawaii. The two videos above, both from Hard Ticket To Hawaii give you an idea of what to expect from an Andy Sidaris film, the bad guy in the second video is called Shades, I think if I ever get a kid I'll call it Shades.
AL LEONG
What do Die Hard, They Live, Leahal Weapon, Big Trouble in Little China, Black Rain, Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure, The Golden Child and Action Jackson all have in common? They're all great films because of one man, and that man is AL LEONG. Although you may not recognise the name you would all recognise his face straight away, he is one of the greatest actors of our generation but is always being typecast as the token yellow bad guy with an uzzie, and being half yellow myself, that makes me proud, what a guy! Did you know that Al Leong is in 74% of all action films from the 1980's .

Back in the 1940's Russian scientists decided to see what would happen if you chopped a dog's head off and attached it to a machine and brought it (sort of) back to life, and then tickle the dog's nose with a feather and shined a torch in his eye, I'd be pretty pissed off if someone did that to me. But on a serious note these tests weren't just done for fun but have helped immensely with the development of blood, heart and lung transfusions, so well done Ruskis.
