WAY BEFORE THE INTERNET & YOUTUBE, THERE WAS PUBLIC ACCESS CABLE TV

Check out these vintage clips from the 1980s alternative music video show, Back Porch Video. Premiering January 28, 1984, this pioneering program was crewed and hosted by high-school students from Detroit.

SLASH ZINES

Ive been trying to buy these suckas for a while on eBay, but they always go for stoopid money, in the mean time Ive just found this GREAT SITE which seems to be compiling all of the zines (so far they have the first 3), the only annoying thing is the text is too small to read, but I shouldn't complain really. Slash started off as the zines above in 1977 (Year Zero) folding 3 years later but they went on to create SLASH RECORDS, the leading LA punk record label of the late 70's/early 80's releasing records for some of my favourite bands including, X, The Germs, Violent Femmes, Fear, The Blasters and The Misfits.

BISHOP OF BATTLE

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Intense short film, Bishop Of Battle from the film NIGHTMARES with Emilio Estevez, where he listens to FEAR and NEGATIVE TREND while trying to win at a video game which comes alive.

THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PT.1

The Decline of Western Civilization Pt.1 is a documentary following the L.A. punk scene from 1979 to 1980. For some reason, the L.A. punk scene never really gets the credit it deserves compared to London and New York, I guess those 2 where first but with bands such as The Germs, X, Fear, Black Flag (pre Henry Rollins) and The Circle Jerks who are all in this brilliant documentary you cant really ignore it can you. It also follows the beginning of Slash Records who started out as a fanzine but went on to release records for X, The Misfits, Violent Femmes, Gun Club and The Knitters to name but a few. This documentary is worth watching just for the footage of Darby Crash.
