THE HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES

The Hollywood Vampires was a drinking club which involved Alice Cooper, Harry Nilsson, Mickie Dolenz (the Monkees), Ringo Starr, Keith Moon, Bob Brown (AC publicist) and John Lennon. Alice was the President. Brown, the Treasurer. They used to meet in 'The Lair' which was an attic space in the Rainbow Bar & Grill in Hollywood. The idea was to be the last one standing.

LET IT BE (DOCUMENTARY)

Here is The Beatles long out of print documentary, LET IT BE from 1970. The documentary was supposed to show the band making the album Let It Be resulting in a live concert, although the film actually ends up showing the tension and clash of egos between the band which led to their split not long after. My brother had this on VHS when I was a kid, but I didn't watch it that much because it's so depressing, George gets electrocuted by a microphone as well which isn't nice but everyone should watch it because it's The Beatles, and The Beatles are the greatest thing ever.

MAHARISHI IS DEAD

Maharishi died yesterday in Holland. He was well known for developing Transcendental Meditation and introducing it to the West as well as hanging out with the Beatles, Mike Love and Donovan, but really he was just a useless randy old man who supposedly tried to rape Mia Farrow, The Beatles soon realised this and wrote the song Sexy Sadie in honour of him, I didn't realise until listening to JOHN LENNON'S ROLLING STONE INTERVIEW how much of a dick he thought the Maharishi was.

ALEJANDRO JODOROWSKY

Someone has uploaded both El Topo and The Holy Mountain onto Veoh, you have to download the film and get a Veoh player to watch them which is a bit of a pain but definitely worth it. If you don't know, El Topo and The Holy Mountain are 2 films by cult Chilean director, Alejandro Jodorowsky and must been seen, seriously these 2 films are incredible. I think El Topo was John Lennon's favourite film, and he and Yoko funded The Holy Mountain. Anyway, you can read more about El Topo HERE and The Holy Mountain HERE.
