Saying something is "So bad it's good" has become an upsetting cliche. But the bad/good description has never been more apt than in the case of singer/dancer Sara Carlson. Her performance on the Italian Saturday night show "AL PARADISE" is SO steeped in shit that you think it was handwoven from faeces, double-dipped in diarrhea, and finished in a fine layer of farts. Then you realise that you're actually watching the greatest exhibition of the human body in motion ever seen. There's such a fine line.
Ever since he was struck by lightning and had a vision of a dove flying out of his chest, James here likes to fill his free time by filming himself singing along to inspirational songs by Enya and Coldplay. If your spirits are in need of a lift then you should check out his video to Won't Back Down.
I've had this on repeat all morning. It's a 1986 cumbia classic titled "Jamas" (Enough), here sung by the Peruvian Princesita Mili and her awesomely attired backing band, Pintura Roja (Red Painting).
It is a truth commonly known that WFMU is one of the finest purveyors of exotica on the internet. True to form, their debut video podcast Video Quest - a binge bag of roughly mixed audio/vid meme samples - lives up to the blog's high standards. I freakin' love this and I want to do something like this here.
Cast your pod towards WFMU Radio Freetown, showcasing the best West African pop music from the 1970s. As a taster, you should listen to the last show which features the delectible melodies of L'Orchestre Kanaga de Mopti, as well as afro-psych-rock from the Nigerian Police Force Band.
I think I might be a little late on discovering the radness of Mark Gormley, but I don't care because this man's talent is timeless.
I first came across him when I saw his "Without You" video, probably the best music promo since the legendary Jan Terri. It takes a minute to kick in, but once it does, it does forever.
Here's an in-depth interview with Mark. So good. Bless you YouTube.
This isn't a new video, but it's probably one of my favourite YouTube moments ever. If anyone has any further information about the Techno-Viking please email me.
