TRICERACOPTER

Patricia Renick's Triceracopter was completed at the end of the Vietnam War and is a plea for the extinction of military technology. 30 feet long, the fearsome sculpture combines life sized helicopter and Triceratops parts, featuring genuine blades and weapons. The result of a three year process involving the US army, Ford Motors and the Formica company, the piece was never commissioned or guaranteed a place in any museum. Renick, who passed away in 2007, described her motivation:"I was determined not to be among those rocking chair people on the front porch of the future saddened by what might have been. So I made a Triceracopter. It is as simple and as complex as that."
