THE CLUB
PARTS 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
Here are all the parts of The Club from BANG BANG, IT'S REEVES AND MORTIMER. The Club follows the day to day activites of Baron's Nightclub and in particular it's owner Paul Baron who is based on PETER STRINGFELLOW. My brother also thinks Daniel Day Lewis' character in Their Will Be Blood is based on The Club's compère Kinky John, he's got a point.
THE BURGER AND THE KING
PARTS 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7
A remarkable guided tour through the culinary world of Elvis Presley, in his later years famed as much for his appetite as for his music. The King's passion for food is recounted by close friends, relatives and personal cooks who share the recipes that kept their idol happy. From the squirrel and racoon dishes of his youth to the fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches that contributed to his demise.
JOHN CUSACK IS RUBBISH

What is it with JOHN CUSACK, so many times I've tried to like him and his films, but every time I end up extremely disappointed. I love 80's teen comedy films, I watch far too many of them, and admittedly most of them are pretty awful, but they make me feel good inside, except that is when John Cusack is in one, I should love him really, South Park even based their 80's teen comedy parody EPISODE on a John Cusack film, maybe it's his smug annoying little face. I watched SAY ANYTHING for the first time last night and it was crap, John Cusack played the same eccentric cool/nerd who sometimes talks to the camera and I got bored after about 10 minutes, it was another disappointment after Better Of Dead, Tapeheads, The Sure Thing, Hot Pursuit and One Crazy Summer. The only 80's teen films I like with him in are where he plays a small part like in Stand By Me and Sixteen Candles, but I'm going to give him one last try tonight and watch Class which supposedly he isn't in that much and which also stars Rob Lowe and Andrew McCarthy, both of whom are great 80's teen actors. Also, why is he in so many films with his sister, that annoys me and kind of makes me dislike him even more.
*UPDATE* I watched CLASS last night and it was great, I think my theory is if John Cusack is in a 80's teen film but doesn't have a lead role then it will be good, but if he does then it'll most probably suck. It's similar to my theory that if Harry Dean Stanton is in a film it'll be amazing.

GRIZZLY MAN'S DEATH TAPE?
So I was reading about the new Grizzly Man Diaries which shows never-seen-before footage of Timothy Treadwell, the bear nutcase/expert from Werner Herzog's incredible Grizzly Man. Then I came across this clip that purports to be the actual audio recording that captures the death throes of Treadwell and his girlfriend as they were eaten alive by a bear. It sounds terrifyingly real at first as you hear voices screaming "I'm getting killed out here!" and "Fight back!" interspersed by angry bear growling. But I started to question the authenticity of the tape when I heard someone shout: "Hit it with a frying pan!"
Erm.... hit it with what? A frying pan? It sounds a bit like slapstick comedy. Why don't you tweak it's nose and drop an anvil on it's head while you're at it? Now, an audio recording of this terrible incident does actually exist and in Herzog's documentary it's discussed at length. It came from a video camera recovered near the two bodies by Alaska State Troopers and given to Treadwell's close friend Jewel Palovak. Herzog urged Palovak to destroy the tape, but apparently she did not, lending credence to the possibility of it being leaked onto the internet. However, I don't think this is it. Do you?
