THE WIZARD OF SPEED AND TIME
The Wizard of Speed and Time is a short film by super special effects man Mike Jittlov, this is the 3 minute short he made back in 1979, he remade it into a full length film in 1989, but I think I prefer the orginal, but they're both brilliant. It's probably the best ever use of stop frame animation i've seen, and is full of crazy and highly creative random fun stuff. I think you can download the whole film from his website HERE
THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PT.2 - THE METAL YEARS
This is SERIOUS, part 1 may be great, but this is incredible. Far less serious than it's predecessor, The Metal Years sort of carries off where part 1 finished and documents the L.A. Metal scene from 1987 to 1988. Personally the bands involved are nowhere near as good as in part 1, but that's not the point, this is one of the funniest and also slightly depressing documentaries ever made. From the very first scene, where Gene Simmons talks from a ladies lingerie shop to it then cutting to a scene of fans wearing Suicidal Tendencies caps mooning with Motorhead blasting out you know what your in for. Literally, every scene in this film is amazing, whether it's C. C. DeVille's attempt at maths, Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.) cry for help, Ozzy trying to make breakfast, London trying to burn the Russian flag, Odin or Bill Gazzarri's sexy rock and roll dance contest, this documentary is unbelievable. Seriously, I urge everyone to watch this NOW!!!!!!!!

THE DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION PT.1
The Decline of Western Civilization Pt.1 is a documentary following the L.A. punk scene from 1979 to 1980. For some reason, the L.A. punk scene never really gets the credit it deserves compared to London and New York, I guess those 2 where first but with bands such as The Germs, X, Fear, Black Flag (pre Henry Rollins) and The Circle Jerks who are all in this brilliant documentary you cant really ignore it can you. It also follows the beginning of Slash Records who started out as a fanzine but went on to release records for X, The Misfits, Violent Femmes, Gun Club and The Knitters to name but a few. This documentary is worth watching just for the footage of Darby Crash.
